The map code for the Garmin City Navigator Australia NT 2008 is actually 271.
after entering codes for 272 for hours i decided to use your tutorial to get the code myself and I discovered it was 271 not 272.

ok i have tried both map id: 271 and 272 on my garmin mobile XT (N95) and wont unlock the map
can someone please email me the steps or links on how i am suppose to be doing this? as i have read everywhere and tried most of the process but still no go..

Hope someone can help. Dad just bought a Nuvi200, Nuvi200W and micro SD version of Australia 2008 NT. THought we could just copy files from the original card to a blank card to run on other Nuvi but learnt each card has unique code. Is this the correct procedure:
1) Record 10 digit serial number (minus 1st two letters and last letter) from back of blank SD card as this is the card’s “Unit ID” – it appears to generate 25 char code for this number.
2) Find Map ID – initially tried a method detailed in a pdf bundled with Key Gen using a binary code reader (ultra edit) on the img file. For mine it appeared the last 7 digits were the title of the map, so went another 6 across (as instructed) and copied the 4 digit code. Reversed 1st two and last two, entered into hex calculator and converted to decimal. Apparently I should get a 3 digit number which is map ID but I kept getting 5 digits. So tried using either Custom Map ID 272 – which later didn’t work on Nuvi 200 – though some here say 271.
3) DOwnload key gen (I got Garmin Mobile XT Keygen v1.1) and enter SD unit ID into top converter and run it for 25 character code. THen enter Custom Map 27x and run that one.
4) THis last 25 character code then gets pasted into notepad and called gmapsupp.unl and saved as a unl file.
5) Copy this unl file and the img file onto the blank SD card under a folder called Garmin.
6) Insert the card and it should work right?

i guess you did something wrong on setp 4
After checking with Gmaptool, I found out the region ID is 1. Had to use the custom mapset setting with 272 map id and the above region ID for the unlock code to be accepted by Garmin Mobile XT.
wylsy, tried for hours but can’t seem to unlock the map code for Garmin City Navigator Australia NT 2008. Can you please share the settings on the Garmin Unlock Generator v1.5. I am using GMXT.

Bought a Garmin 205w in USA and only has US maps…….please in layman’s terms explain to me how to put Garmin City Navigator Australia NT 2008 on to my GPS so i can use it.
already have downloaded the .rar file, from here i have no idea how to make it all work.

Now what do i do, copy them on to a Memory SD card and just plug it in.

use the map id you can get a code from keygen
then use it to get gmapupp.unl copy it to /garmin/
sorry im still very confused on how i should go about this..

ok first you should know you id
than using it by keygen
you will gei a code.
copy it to gmapupp.unl and save.
than copy it to /garmin
using notepad to edit gmapupp.unl

Hope you are still reading this thread. I got the files, but when I try to unzip them I get some sorth of error about a block. I believe it has something to do with regions. Am I on the right track? If so any idea on how I can get past this? When I view the items in the folder I see a setup.exe, but when I try to explode the file, it makes it towards the end, then gives me error. I have found about 3 different downloads of the same maps, and ALL 3 of them do the exact same thing
